A recent Millennium Research Group report indicates that guided surgery technology will be used in almost 25% of dental implants. Guided surgery (as it applies to dental implants) uses digital x-rays combined with specialized software to help the dentist to better visualize and plan the placement of dental implants within the patient’s mouth. It is also used in drilling to ensure that the dentist knows exactly where they need to place the dental implant.

A new “guided zygomatic” implant has recently been introduced that will make dental implants available to many people who were formerly unable to wear them. The process requires no surgery, and can be completed in one or two appointments (rather than the 3+ appointments it presently takes). Plus the implants are a strong as real teeth.
