Does it make sense to get your dental care in another country — outside of the United States — in order to save money on dentures and dental implants? Dental Practice Marketing and Management Blog editor Jim Du Molin covered the topic recently in one of his posts. He acknowledged that while it isn’t really mainstream at this point, it is growing and that the Deloitte Center for Heath Solutions estimates that about 648,000 patients will take medical and dental vacations overseas this year — which is about 20% higher than in 2008.

Ordinarily, an oral snore-reduction appliance will typically only stay in place if the user has at least six to 10 natural teeth — which can pose a problem for complete denture wearers or other individuals who have lost their teeth. However, a recent report entitled “A Removable Snore Reduction Appliance for Mandibular Edentulous Patient” describes how a device may be attached with the assistance of two implants which were already in place.
When secured in a protrusive, but comfortable manner, a greater airway space was created and the user (and her husband) reported more restful sleep.

A new salt therapy clinic will be opening soon in Orlando, Florida. Salt therapy (often known as halotherapy) offers short-term relief for symptoms of a wide variety of maladies ranging from Asthma to Eczema to sinus infections. Basically, they have three rooms which are filled with salt — there is salt on the walls, on the floor, and in the air. When you breathe it you get a concentrated feeling much like what you get when you breathe the salt air on the beach or in a deep salt cave.
The Salt Room opens in mid-January, 2010. It will be the most advanced respiratory treatment facility of its kind in the Orlando region (maybe all of Florida).
