Florida dentures may still be covered by Medicaid
The Florida House of Representatives pulled off the table a cost-cutting measure that helped fund dentures for an estimated 146,000 Florida seniors on Medicaid. The state, facing a significant budget crunch, had been hoping to save up to $14 million a year on a program that provides eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures to seniors who needed them. Despite the House’s intent to keep the program though, the Senate version of the bill still calls for the denture funding to be cut.
Instead, Gov. Charlie Crist and a handful of legislators may be given the power to spend up to $1.7 billion in state reserves.
