The Florida legislature is considering a bill that would significantly reduce the Medicaid program that pays for dentures, glasses, and hearing aids for seniors. The expect that such a move will save the state $32 million, which represents about a third of the state’s planned budget cuts.
In additon to cutting services for seniors, lawmakers are also looking at cutting mental health services, providing less funding for county heath departments, and eliminating the state’s only hospital for tuberculosis patients.
